About us
The Children’s Movement sprung about from the Girl-Child Movement in 1996. The Affirmative Action for the Girl Child Project was started in 1995 after the 5th World Conference of women in Beijing China. It’s aim was to provide an African Girl-Child Movement. The Girl Child movement was started by Mrs Ottilie G. ABRAHAMS.
OUR AIMS
- To Recruit, Train, Educate, In all Essence and Respect to Prepare a large group of young people to take leadership in the 21st Century.
- The Children’s Movement of will organize children and the youth into a Social Movement.
- To work with all progressive Democratic Movements and Organizations within Namibia and Abroad. Including the United Nations Agencies, whose Aims and Objectives are compatible with ours and who can assist us in establishing an international network for the Children’s Movement.
OUR BELIEFS
- We believe that children have the potential to be Agents for Change to Assist in a process of creating and sustaining a quantitatively better world for themselves and others. In the process becoming better people.
- Children need to be children here and now. They can only be the future if they are the children here and now. If not they will neglect the future as it has already begun to happen (Neglected children often commit crimes).
- Children should become actively involved in the processes that will determine the quality of Democracy and life in general. The importance of a social movement is therefore vital that the matters affecting the lives of children be Done by Children and For the Children.

Sister Namibia, formerly known as the Sister Namibia Collective, is a feminist nonpartisan non-governmental organization (NGO) located in Windhoek, Namibia.
The organization was established in 1989 on the eve of the Namibia’s independence from South Africa.
The formation of the Sister Namibia Collective follows the story of Namibia’s liberation. Following World War I, the League of Nations mandated that Namibia, known then as South West Africa, be governed by South Africa. Not only was apartheid imposed under South African rule, but women’s rights were restricted as well. Women were considered legal minors, married women could only engage in legal transactions with their husband’s permission. In the 1990s Sister Namibia expanded its operations to include educational programs, research, activism, media engagement, and cultural activities in support of women’s rights.
